Prakash Raj, the actor-par-excellence, is widely regarded as Kollywood’s answer to the popular and versatile Bollywood actors such as Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Boman Irani and Ashutosh Rana. Prakash Raj has taken up almost all conceivable roles in his career in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films for the last 15 years or so.
After his powerful performance as Ajay Devgn’s villain in last year’s ‘Singham’, there has been no stopping of Prakash, who incidentally married a Bollywood choreographer, Pony Verma in a much-publicised wedding in the second half of last year.
Looks like the actor is all set for a long innings in Mumbai if the number of current projects he has in hand is any indication to go by. The actor, is also a popular producer and director down south.
He has as many as three prestigious films in hand including ‘Dabangg-2’, which is a sequel to the very successful ‘Dabangg’.
He also plays a significant role in Prabhudeva’s upcoming film titled ‘Rowdy Rathore’, which is the Hindi remake of the Tamil super-hit film ‘Siruthai’ that starred Karthi in dual roles. The third film which has been keeping Prakash Raj in Mumbai for the past few weeks is ‘Zanjeer’, a remake of the popular film of Amitabh Bachchan bearing the same title.
As reported earlier, Tollywood actor Ram Charan Teja would play the lead role in ‘Zanjeer’ which is being made in Telugu and Hindi at the same time.
Prakash Raj happily reveals that he would be portraying the role played in the inimitable by Ajith, the veteran Bollywood actor, in the original version.
