The comments made by Modugula Venugopal Reddy, the Telugu Desam Party MP from Narsaraopet in Guntur district, questioning the party’s stand on Telangana has provided yet another weapon to Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Telangan Congress leaders.
Modugula created flutters in the TDP camp by saying that he would oppose the Telangana in Parliament and express his dissent with party president N Chandrababu Naidu. This is now being questioned by Naidu’s detractors.
“The TDP president says the party’s politburo has taken the policy decision to support Telangana. If he is really sincere about his pro-Telangana stand, he should immediately suspend Modugula from the party,” TRS legislator Etela Rajender demanded.
He pointed out that the classic example for Naidu’s anti-Telangana attitude was the way he had refused to carry the pot containing Jai Telangana slogans and carried the pot with Jai Telugu Desam Party slogan.
Telangana Congress legislator and chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy also asked Naidu to take action against Modugula for defying the party stand on Telangana. “Only then can one believe Naidu,” he said.
