If a student fails in the annual exam and has to repeat a class, he will not get this benefit
State government on Tuesday issued orders for extending educational scholarships for the students of SC and ST categories. According to the orders, the scheme- known as Rajiv Vidya Deewena is introduced to support parents of SC children, studying in classes IX and X so that the incidence of drop-out, especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage is minimised.
It further stated that all SC students pursuing studies in schools run by the Government and local bodies are eligible for this scholarship. The annual income of the parents or guardians shall not exceed Rs 2 lakhs per annum and the student shall not get any other Centrally-funded Pre-Matric Scholarship.
This is just for one year and if a student fails in the annual exam and has to repeat a class, he will not get this benefit. Day scholars will get Rs150 per month whereas hostellers would be given Rs350/. For Books and Ad hoc Grant, Rs750 for day scholars and Rs1000 for hostellers.
The conditions for getting the scholarship were made in such a way that each student shall have a bank account in his or her name from any of the nationalized banks. The bank account shall be linked to the aadhar number of the student to enable scholarship transfer. Linkage of the Aadhar Number with the Bank Account will be done by the Manager of the Bank concerned on production of Aadhar Number by the student or parent.
The scholarship will be paid for 10 months in an academic year. It will continue subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance. It will be renewed for Class X after the student passes Class IX. In case of hostellers, the scholarship will be remitted to the account of the Hostel Warden and the dietary charges shall be suitably adjusted.
Students for Rajiv Vidya Deewena scheme shall apply online at http://epass.cgg.gov.in and click on the Pre-Matric Scholarships for registration form and submit the following details. The Head Master of the school shall verify all the details of the student and countersign the Application. He shall also certify that the Student is not receiving any other Scholarship from the State or the Central Government.
